Padre Pio - photos

Saint Padre Pio

Stigmatic, miracle-worker, slave to the confessional

May the Saint from San Giovanni Rotondo, who loved Virgin Mary so much and recited many decades of the Rosary every day, familiarise us with the mystery of life and redemptive work of Jesus Christ, hidden in the beads of particular rosary mysteries.

“I can forget myself but not my spiritual children and assure you that when the Lord calls me, I will say to Him: Lord, I shall remain at the gates of Paradise; I shall enter only when I have seen the last of my spiritual children enter."

“My mission begins after my death.”

Prayer to Saint Padre Pio

Saint Padre Pio, marked with holy signs of Passion of our Saviour, You have been chosen by God to show anew the power and wonders of Divine Love in our times.

Be our patron in heaven, and when we call Your mighty intercession at the throne of Divine Mercy, beg for forgiveness of our sins, grace of unification with Jesus Christ in the Eucharist and joy of remaining at the Holy Church. Protect us from the evil spirit, direct our steps on the road to peace and teach us to live in the truth and freedom of God’s children. Amen.

Saint Father Pio explains to his superiors, fellow brothers and friends that PRIDE is one of the most serious sins. He also confides in his fellow brothers, saying that “ It is true that I am nobody and all the goodness living in me comes from God. It is frequently due to pride that we destroy even the goodness that God has poured into our hearts.” Some other time he claims that “Pride is the enemy of souls devoted to spiritual life and therefore, it can aptly be called the moth of a soul striving for perfection. It slips into the most outstanding deeds and even when we do not realize it, it puts up its tent in humility.” One needs to have faith, love and trust in Divine Providence and His mercy, that is why he says, “Remember, when you offend God’s justice, you call on HIS MERCY. However, when you offend his mercy, what is there to resort to?” Thus, he confesses, “I fear more of God’s MERCY than of His judgment: before I managed to thank Him, the waves of his love had roused me again and I had sank in them.”

Prayer to Mother of God, Help of Christians

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help or sought your intercession, was left unaided.

Inspired with this confidence, I fly to you, O Virgin of virgins, Mother of Jesus Christ; to you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, deign to listen to poor me, who from this world cries for help. Be a help in all my needs, now and forever, and at the hour of death. O  clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary, through Your Holy Virginity, Immaculate Conception, o Holy Virgin Mary purify my heart, my body and my soul. Amen.
